ROLE OVERVIEW:
As a national trade association in a highly regulated industry, it is key that RenewableUK maintains industry knowledge and in-house expertise of the sectors of industry we represent, to inform members’ businesses, to provide strategic and business development information to members and to enhance our engagement with the media, the public, government officials, politicians, and other key external stakeholders.
RenewableUK’s EnergyPulse is a key offering in the benefit matrix for members of the association, used by members from all sectors of our industry to further industry knowledge, understand market forecasts and enhance B2B contacts. This powerful tool allows users to interrogate the renewable energy database for offshore wind projects across the globe, UK onshore wind, renewable hydrogen and energy storage projects above 100kW in size and UK marine energy projects. Additional analysis includes deployment forecasts for offshore and onshore wind projects, ranked ownership graphs, age of fleet profiles and tip heights for wind energy projects.
The EnergyPulse team is responsible, working with colleagues, members and wider stakeholders, for maintenance and development of RenewableUK’s online EnergyPulse offering including web portal and insightful reports.
The EnergyPulse Researcher will work to manage the collection and use of market data and the development of information services, for the benefit of RenewableUK and our members through maintenance of EnergyPulse and through the production of regular EnergyPulse reports.
The postholder is to work as part of the Commercial Team to assist in the recruitment and retention of members to the association working with the Head of Membership and Director of Business Development to assist in achieving annual income targets. The postholder will be pro-active in helping us decide how to use market intelligence work to best effect, having Profit & Loss responsibility for sales as well as retention targets (some 15% of the role).
In addition to working directly on the database, seeking, collating, analysing, manipulating and inputting data into the system (some 75% of the role) the Researcher will support wider business development (hunting for targets) to support the work of the Director of Business Development and Head of Membership (10% of the role).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Database management
a. Accurately research market data, identifying original sources where possible, to support the provision of information in the EnergyPulse database focussing on a combination of global offshore wind projects, UK onshore wind, renewable hydrogen and energy storage projects.
b. Ensure that information and data researched is entered accurately onto the RenewableUK EnergyPulse database.
c. Ensure internet-based information services and reports are accurate and up to date to deliver specific market information needs for the RenewableUK membership.
d. Ensure that forecasts and quantitative information associated with components in the database is realistic by monitoring actual project timelines and investment decisions with internal and industry forecasts and advising the refinement of models, as appropriate.
e. Report on the usage of and recommend improvements to the provision of RenewableUK information and intelligence services.
f. Ensure, with the support of the Head of EnergyPulse, that RenewableUK maintains a leadership role in provision of industry information to members and wider stakeholders.
g. Provide specific research and analysis in support of wider policy work.
h. Research information thoroughly, exploring leads, and highlighting relevant sector news to the wider RenewableUK team.
i. Identify and address areas of lower coverage in the database, undertaking research via the internet and by telephone where necessary to fill data gaps.
j. Cover and support the wider EnergyPulse team’s work as required.
k. Support the compilation of regular reports from EnergyPulse data for release to membership
2. Engagement and advocacy
a. Supply and research data to the policy team to assist in RenewableUK’s advocacy work and to assist the communications team with regards to press releases and responses.
b. Creating bespoke data outputs for RenewableUK members when required.
3. Business Development
a. Assist the Head of Membership and Director of Business Development by researching and identifying potential new RenewableUK members.
b. Attend RenewableUK and external exhibitions to assist in promoting RenewableUK’s services to potential new members.
c. Demonstrate to members of RenewableUK how to use the EnergyPulse databases and support the demonstration of the database to potential new members.
4. Administration
a. Cover and assist the Head of Membership with onboarding of new members and sub-accounts, diary management and general support.
b. Develop an understanding of the workings of the membership department at RenewableUK to be able to offer holiday cover when required.
