HyHAUL Mobility Ltd. (“HML”) is a logistics platform company spearheading the decarbonisation of the UK’s heavy duty road transport. Following a platform and network integrator approach, HML aggregates low-carbon hydrogen supply as well as client demand for long distance goods transport to pioneer decarbonised transport networks. Through initial work as the lead of the “HyHAUL” Zero Emissions HGV Infrastructure Demonstration (“ZEHID”, formerly “ZERFD”) project, HML is enhancing the business case of zero-emission heavy duty transport, starting from the M4 corridor.
HyHAUL will be the UK’s first dedicated hydrogen mobility corridor, pioneering and proving hydrogen applications in heavy-duty freight operations. The learnings from HyHAUL are envisioned to unlock the decarbonisation of the hardest to abate duty cycles and are thus invaluable to the UK’s decarbonisation pathway.
HML is a joint venture by Protium Green Solutions, the UK’s leading green hydrogen energy services company, and Marubeni Corporation, a Japanese multinational trading and infrastructure conglomerate. The HyHAUL project will deploy £42m of capital and is supported by the Department for Transport and InnovateUK. The project is delivered by a consortium of international blue chips and UK SMEs. As such, HML will manage relationships with vehicle OEMs and lease providers, refuelling partners, hydrogen supply and logistics companies, fleet operators and other parties to deliver the first phase of a decarbonised heavy-duty freight network. Building upon this experience, HML is expected to expand beyond the initial demonstration phase, both in terms of vehicles served as well as haulage routes covered.
