A Day in the Life

You will work as part of a small team of experts in human genetics, data science and software engineering that build the platform at the core of our work in Life Sciences to derive new insights into human biology and help guide drug development towards safer and more efficacious drug targets. Your involvement in the various stages of development (methodology, software engineering, analysis) will reflect your personal balance of computational and scientific proficiencies.

You'll leverage your coding expertise and combine it with your background in Research Science to refine and enhance the methods and prototypes developed by the science team. You will implement these solutions in a manner that is robust and highly scalable.

What you will need:-

  • The ability to write high-quality code in Python using modern software development practices.
  • A strong quantitative background in a scientific field, alongside the ability to analyse large-scale data sets in a scientific context.
  • Experience running tools and workflows on a Linux-based high-performance computing (HPC) environment

Good to have :-

  • Experience in the application of novel statistical methods and/or experience with statistical programming languages such as R
  • Knowledge of common practices for automated testing, building and deployment of software packages
  • Direct background in the handling of genetic data, or other large scale biological data and the use of associated bioinformatics tools and workflows
