THE ROLE
You will work with data, modelling and energy experts to source, clean & manage large datasets, and facilitate the development of novel geospatial software datasets that address some of the world’s most pressing energy and climate-related problems.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Novel GIS data preparation, data management, analysis, mapping and visualisation
- Contributing to the development of interactive web apps and software for modelling and data visualisation
- Contributing to technical documentation
- Automation of geospatial data workflows
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant discipline
- Experience and understanding of GIS tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, or similar
- Experience in programming languages such as Python/Jupyter Notebook, R, or similar
- Experience with data management, processing, analysis, and interpretation
- Experience working with sustainable technologies (e.g., renewable energy modelling, low carbon infrastructure, etc)
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable and proactive with a willingness to grow in the role as the team builds in a frequently changing environment
Desirable:
- Implementation of good coding practices and efficient data handling within the confines of the code
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, SQL Server)
- Some experience in the utilisation of cloud services provided by platforms like AWS or GCP
- Geospatial front-end web development (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript), working with the ESRI JavaScript API and/or other front-end geospatial libraries and platforms (e.g., Mapbox, Leaflet, OpenLayers)
PLACE OF WORK
This role is remote first. The company is based in Cambridge and has a shared office in Cambridge and London Farringdon. There will be opportunities to work in the office if desired.
