This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Trading Manager / Data Scientist to work closely with our Asset Management & Trading Team. Within this multi-faceted team, we have commercial managers, former traders, policy experts, asset managers and coders.
Initially established by Macquarie’s Green Investment Group, Eku Energy is jointly owned by a Macquarie Asset Management managed fund and British Columbia Investment Management. At Eku, we develop, build, own and operate grid-scale battery storage projects in key markets around the world.
This role is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team during an exciting period of growth as we work to advance the global clean energy transition.
We recognise this is a blended role and candidates may have more experience in one area over another. We are looking for someone with experience of power trading in Central Europe who is comfortable commercially structuring contracts, and someone that is able tocan translate that understanding into complex analysis to evaluate and manage the risks and opportunities to help us sustainably grow our portfolio.
This role is a perfect fit for a high-performing individual who wants to accelerate a career in the energy transition space. You have a strong academic background in a quantitative subject such as computer science, engineering, or commercial.
You’ll be comfortable in an agile, fast-paced environment and grasping an intense learning curve, both in business management and understanding the fundamentals of large energy projects.
Responsibilities Of The Role
- Originate new revenue opportunities to optimise expected BESS portfolio returns
- Structure, negotiate and develop contracts with internal and external stakeholders
- Pricing & modelling of contracts, options and tenders
- Create appropriate tooling to develop insight from market data and analyse contract structures
- Develop strategy to manage revenue opportunties and risk
- Establish and maintain relationships with counterparties in new and emerging markets
- Interface with Development, Policy, Investment Management and Operational teams
Requirements
- Power trading origination experience, central European experience preferred
- Experience in BESS and/or flexibility preferred
- Track record of structuring, negotiating and contract execution
- Excellent statistical and modelling proficiency. Python preferred
- Attention to detail and strategic thinking
- Communication and presentation skill
