Our Client is a scaling developer of cross-technology renewable and low-carbon energy projects, backed by one of the world’s largest financial institutions.

Their ambition is to establish a number of Green Energy Hubs across the UK, harnessing multiple technologies based around one grid connection.

The DCO Manager will lead the consenting of NSIP-scale solar PV & BESS projects from inception to submission, examination and determination with an external multi-disciplinary team of specialist consultants including:

  • Planning team
  • Environment & landscape team
  • Land referencing & land legal teams (with support from TE-UK in-house Land Team)
  • CPO team (if necessary)
  • Legal team
  • Stakeholder consultation and engagement (C&E) team

Within this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage this team, ensuring each part is working in a coordinated manner with the others.
  • Manage the consultation process with the C&E team and the Local Planning Authority, representing the project and company in a professional manner.
  • Manage the drafting, compilation and submission of the Development Consent Order (DCO) application.
  • Manage the relationship with the Planning Inspectorate.
  • Manage the DCO examination process and represent the project as required.
  • Manage any changes to the project scope, schedule and costs using appropriate verification techniques to ensure a viable consent.
  • Liaise with the Head of Operations (and specialist consultants) regarding grid connection matters.
  • Liaise with the Head of Land (and specialist consultants) regarding land matters.
  • Work alongside the consultant Design Team, CEO and Business Devt. team to optimise the project.
  • Work through each project phase with each consultant team to ensure the project remains on time/budget for submission.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

To be successful in this role you will require the following skills and experience:

  • Team player with initiative, a ‘can-do’ attitude, a high desire to succeed, great communication skills and a structured way of working.
  • Successful track record in project management involving multiple and complex stakeholders.
  • Experience leading or managing planning processes or projects for large infrastructure projects, preferably projects requiring a Development Consent Order (DCO) and/or Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK is essential as sponsorship is not offered for this role.
  • Professional qualifications and/or professional memberships within Planning, Environment, Project Management, or Engineering will also be beneficial, but practical experience will be considered above this.
