Working hours: 39 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm / Fri 9.00am - 4.00pm

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Solar PV Designer to join our team at ICB Projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solar PV system design, with expertise in utilising PV*Sol and AutoCAD software. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design and development of solar PV projects, ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of renewable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilise PV*Sol software to design and simulate solar PV systems, including rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid systems
  • Create detailed layout plans, single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics using AutoCAD software
  • Conduct shading analysis, and feasibility studies to optimise system performance and energy production
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop customised solar PV solutions that meet project requirements and objectives
  • Perform system sizing calculations, equipment selection, and component specifications based on site conditions, electrical load profiles, and regulatory standards
  • Generate comprehensive project documentation, including design reports, technical drawings, and installation manuals
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in solar PV system design and integration


Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering
  • Proficiency in PV*Sol software for PV system design and simulation
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD software for drafting and design
  • Solid understanding of solar PV technology, components, and system configurations
  • Knowledge of UK-specific electrical codes, standards, and regulations related to PV installations
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and precision in design work
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively


Desired:

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical or equivalent
  • Experience with other solar PV design software (e.g., Helioscope, PVSyst)
  • Familiarity with UK energy modelling tools and financial analysis software
  • Previous experience working in the renewable energy industry or solar project development in the UK market
  • Strong understanding of MCS regulations.
