Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Solar PV Designer to join our team at ICB Projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in solar PV system design, with expertise in utilising PV*Sol and AutoCAD software. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design and development of solar PV projects, ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of renewable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilise PV*Sol software to design and simulate solar PV systems, including rooftop, ground-mounted, and hybrid systems
Create detailed layout plans, single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics using AutoCAD software
Conduct shading analysis, and feasibility studies to optimise system performance and energy production
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop customised solar PV solutions that meet project requirements and objectives
Perform system sizing calculations, equipment selection, and component specifications based on site conditions, electrical load profiles, and regulatory standards
Generate comprehensive project documentation, including design reports, technical drawings, and installation manuals
Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in solar PV system design and integration
Requirements
Essential:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering
Proficiency in PV*Sol software for PV system design and simulation
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD software for drafting and design
Solid understanding of solar PV technology, components, and system configurations
Knowledge of UK-specific electrical codes, standards, and regulations related to PV installations
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients
Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and precision in design work
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively
Desired:
NVQ Level 3 Electrical or equivalent
Experience with other solar PV design software (e.g., Helioscope, PVSyst)
Familiarity with UK energy modelling tools and financial analysis software
Previous experience working in the renewable energy industry or solar project development in the UK market
Strong understanding of MCS regulations.
