Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Maintenance Engineer to ensure the optimal functioning of machinery and equipment in our manufacturing site. The primary focus of this role is to support machine breakdowns & repairs, handle routine preventive maintenance, support in analysing machine data, and assist in various proactive initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency. The Maintenance Technician will also be responsible for managing specific tasks related to safety protocols, spares management, routine inspections, machinery breakdown troubleshooting, and possess the following qualifications.
Qualifications
- Time-served multi-skilled Technician, with either electrical or mechanical bias considered acceptable
- Proficient in mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical fault-finding skills
- Desirable but not essential: PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) experience
- Desirable but not essential: Robotics experience
- Desirable but not essential: CNC and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) experience
- Desirable but not essential: Experience in facilities maintenance
- Good I.T. skills, with the ability to use relevant maintenance management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with factory staff and management
- Flexible approach to work to meet production demands
- Strong safety ethos with experience in implementing safe systems of work
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance:
- Execute routine preventive maintenance tasks according to the schedule to minimize equipment downtime
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Engineer to develop and refine preventive maintenance plans
Machinery Breakdown & Troubleshooting:
- Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and assist in troubleshooting to identify root causes
- Work closely with the Maintenance Engineer to implement effective solutions for breakdown recovery
Data Analysis:
- Assist in analysing maintenance data and trends to identify areas for improvement and efficiency
- Work with the Maintenance Engineer to implement data-driven decision-making processes
Safety Protocols:
- Contribute to the development and adherence of safety protocols for equipment & site maintenance
- Conduct regular safety inspections and report any potential hazards or non-compliance
Spares Management:
- Support the Maintenance Engineer in managing spare parts inventory
- Assist in proactive procurement of critical spares to reduce reactive maintenance needs
Routine Inspections:
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues before they lead to breakdowns
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Engineer to establish comprehensive inspection checklists
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other stakeholders to understand their maintenance needs and provide necessary support
- Communicate effectively with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities without disrupting operations
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance logs and history records
- Assist in the creation of work instructions and safety protocols for routine and preventive maintenance tasks
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the maintenance function
- Actively participate in projects aimed at enhancing overall equipment reliability
Training and Development:
- Stay informed about equipment specifications and manuals, seeking opportunities for continuous learning
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Engineer to develop training materials and conduct training sessions for the maintenance team
Additional Information
This role is day shift only. Weekend working may be required for contractor work around production operations, as required for business needs. Standard day shift working times are in line with the Maintenance Engineer (7:30 - 15:30), though these can be adjusted to suit the candidate if required.
