Purpose of Role


As the Assistant Electric Drive Controls Engineer you will specify, design, engineer & deliver vehicle control systems including Battery management system, DC/DC converter, Chargers, inverter and any other ECUs within the Hybrid and EV Systems. Interactions with Powertrain CAE team, Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Vehicle Development are also part of the system design role.


Principal Accountabilities


  • Generating control system requirements
  • Supporting control systems delivery to all vehicle projects, to specification, on time and on budget.
  • Working with the Functional Safety experts to deliver ISO 26262 requirements
  • Working with the Powertrain CAE group to develop Model-in-the-Loop systems and support requirement verification.
  • Presenting external and internal project status reviews


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Proficiency in Control Systems Engineering, Simulation modelling in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Embedded systems knowledge
  • Technical knowledge of BMS and power electronics (DCDC, Inverter, HV charger) control desirable
  • HiL (Hardware in the Loop) and Rig systems testing experience desirable.
