The post holder will have the following responsibilities;

  • Undertake maintenance checks which will include all common systems aboard modern yachts capable of Bluewater cruising.
  • Assisting in the management of maintenance for each boat
  • Diagnose faults whether they be electrical/ structural/ mechanical
  • Directly repair and/or assist in the commission/supervising the repair of those faults.
  • Directly install and/or assist in the commission/supervising the installation of new systems/equipment
  • Work with contractors brought in
  • Liaise with suppliers on technical aspects/costings
  • Assist with project managing the above and provide reports of the work carried out.


Skills required:

  • The ability to carry out maintenance checks and fault find on standard yacht systems (essential) and;
  • The ability to systematically carry out maintenance tasks (essential)
  • The ability to diagnose faults (Essential)
  • Excellent communication skills (Essential)
  • Full UK driving licence (Essential)
  • The ability to assist and execute marina basin yacht movements (Desirable but training will be given)


Experience:

  • Of working independently and responsible for managing their own workload (essential)
  • Of at least 2 years working in the yachting industry (essential)
  • Of working with customers directly (essential)
  • Of working with suppliers to source key parts (essential)
  • Boat handling experience within marinas (desirable)
  • Sailing experience either professionally or for leisure (desirable)


Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of yachts and of the key equipment they use (Essential)
  • Knowledge of prestige yachting brands (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of suppliers to the yachting industry (Desirable)
  • Yachting/Motorboat qualifications (Desirable, but training will be given)



The contract will be full-time and in-person, based out of our Hamble office. There will be 40 hours each week (Mon-Fri) with occasional overtime depending on demand within the business. UK and overseas travel is sometimes required.



We are seeking to employ the right candidate, who has a passion for being on the water, along with the skills, knowledge and experience to prepare owners and their boats for unlimited adventure. With an enthusiasm to help them maintain their boat throughout their relationship with White Dot Sailing.

The role requires a blend of technical knowledge, hands-on engineering, and organisational skills. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively with owners, suppliers and their team. Ongoing training will be provided to the successful candidate to help develop their skills and areas required by the business.


White Dot Sailing started trading in May 2016 and was incorporated in November 2019; full-time management contracts have been established with a diverse group of boat owners and there is ongoing demand for the services we provide. We strive to be the go-to provider of a tailor-made service encompassing everything from coaching, purchase advice, maintenance, refit and support services to boat owners, whether they be experienced sailors or new to the industry. We represent clients and their yachts globally.

In addition, as a Bluewater specialist and a World Cruising Club corporate partner we help owners through our Adventure Projects programme, to prepare for Bluewater voyages; either bespoke challenges or events like the ARC and World ARC rally. This involves assessment, advice, project management of refits, coaching, and ongoing support once underway.
