Who are The Bulb? The Bulb provides consultancy to agencies, brands and NGO's to create events and campaigns that don't hurt the Planet. We work with our clients to create sustainability strategies that work in practice and provide consultancy from concept and design through to delivery and derig. Our end goal is to ensure projects are executed sustainably without compromising creativity, meaning our clients get a great outcome with a great legacy. Our clients include the world’s leading experiential agencies, large-scale global events such as the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, independent UK based event organisers and brands, as well as NGO’s.

You will be joining a small but mighty team who have a shared love for the Planet, experiences and making a difference. Our culture is very important to us and we’re looking for the right person who understands our growth mentality, shares our passion and can work well within a team. We require a UK based candidate who is able to travel to client offices and event sites. Where in the UK is down to you - we’re looking for the right person, not the right location. We operate on a flexible schedule, knowing that people work better at different times of the day so for us it’s about quality of work, not quantity or working a 9-5.

What we’re looking for A Sustainability Associate Director to be the ‘right hand person’ to the CEO and Founder, to support the growth of the business during this exciting time and provide management and guidance to a team of permanent and freelance Sustainability Consultants.

Note: The Sustainability Associate Director must be able and willing to travel (nationally and internationally), sometimes at short notice, supporting ‘on the ground’ aspects of client projects, where required. This could be for several weeks at a time. The day-to-day The day-to-day role will include (but is not limited to): Client Management Take ownership of multiple client projects Take the lead on client meetings in the CEO/Founder’s absence, as required Be a day-to-day contact for clients

Create and develop strategic and operational plans to meet client deliverables, ensuring a high standard of work as expected from The Bulb

Create assets for clients, including training and development material Liaise with designers and other partners of The Bulb on client creative briefs, when applicable Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients Identify opportunities for growth within our existing and new client base

Support (and occasionally lead) new business opportunities with proposals and pitches

Team Management Support the CEO to manage a team of Sustainability Consultants (four x Sustainability Consultants and 1x Junior Sustainability Consultant) on a day-to-day basis, playing a pivotal role to ‘bridge the gap’ between the team and the CEO/Founder Focus on building the knowledge and expertise of identified members of the team, mentoring/guiding their development

Work closely with the CEO/Founder to ensure our Sustainability Consultants are well supported and achieving their client deliverables and project deadlines, ensuring a high standard of work as expected from The Bulb

Manage any freelance consultants on a day-to-day basis, as required Assist the CEO/Founder with headhunting talent and carrying out interviews, as required Oversee resourcing, deadlines and processes.

Strategy Development Carry out gap analysis and/or materiality assessments

Work with our clients to identify sustainability hotspots and create sustainability strategies that work in practice Create and implement sustainability strategies and supporting operational documentation including action plans

Lead business development and transformation for our clients

Lead certifications such as ISO 20121 and ISO 14001 and B Corporation, where required

Support research and development within the team across materials and technologies

Other Represent The Bulb across the industry through speaking engagements and PR opportunities, with a view to increasing both your profile and the company Attend industry events, webinars and workshops, when required

Keep up-to-date with sustainability developments and industry news Assist with internal and external audits, as required Experience/Skills Required: Experienced Sustainability professional with at least five years experience Confident communicator, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues Management experience of a small-medium sized team and a proven track record of getting the best out of people Experience of the recruitment process, including supporting job description content and interviewing candidates Experience with carrying out gap analysis and materiality assessments, as well as creating and implementing bespoke sustainability strategies and operational plans Experience with leading client projects and managing multiple projects at one time Knowledge/experience of leading certifications including ISO 20121, ISO 14001 and B Corporation Desired: Proven track record of Business Development successes Event industry experience Experience with speaking events, including keynote speaking and industry panel participation Overview of Additional Benefits In addition to salary, The Bulb offers the additional benefits: 5% pension contribution (national average 3%) 20 days holiday plus bank holidays Additional paid day off for birthday
