Role Purpose

The Personalized Health Director will occupy a crucial role in steering and defining NEOM's strategy for integrating genetics into personalized healthcare. This position demands a sophisticated understanding of big data analytics, genetic data, and personalized medicine and is essential for translating intricate genetic information into practical health solutions. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the creation and execution of genetics-based health strategies, which entails analyzing genetic data to pinpoint health risks and possibilities and utilizing these insights to formulate tailored health interventions. The appointed individual will be responsible for leading projects that harness genetic data for health enhancement, directing a team of experts, and articulately conveying complex genetic information to a broad spectrum of stakeholders.

This role is critical in introducing innovative methodologies to our health and wellness initiatives, ensuring the seamless integration of genetic findings into our wider health strategies. The Personalized Health Genetics Director will be instrumental in propelling our organization's pledge to offer forefront, bespoke healthcare solutions, thereby elevating the overall health and well-being of our community. The candidate will spearhead the development of genetic health models and incorporate these into an all-encompassing health and wellness framework in line with NEOM's vision and objectives.

Strategy, Planning and Coordination

  • Support in the development and delivery of the division strategy through hypothesis development, scenario testing, feasibility studies, and related tasks.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations in the annual planning and budgeting cycle
  • As part of the team
  • Collaborate with population health and planner experts to incorporate Personalised Medicine programs into the broader health system and health and wellness initiatives.
  • Reassess and adjust targets and implementation plans accordingly to new and/or changed master plans

Project delivery and Risk Management

  • Support in the development of structures and processes for monitoring projects and activities
  • Independently lead and deliver assigned activities and projects.
  • P roactively identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Provide periodic reports regarding project progress, challenges, risks, and mitigation plans
  • Actively take part of and contribute to workshops and activities related to asset, equipment, and digital infrastructure development

Administration and Contract Management

  • Contribute to the development of the scope of work documents.
  • Support in internal and external communications activities

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Actively participate in sector and cross sector meetings and initiate meeting structures for effective interaction with stakeholders related to assignments
  • Manage stakeholders’ feedback on issues, challenges and unmet requirements and develop action plans
  • Act as a role model for the sector in interaction with other sectors and departments

People Management

  • Lead by example, supervise and coach team members and colleagues to perform at their best

Qualifications / Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in genetics or a closely related field, specifically focusing on its applications within healthcare.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the healthcare sector.
  • At least 10 years of experience in leading and managing projects.
  • A solid history of formulating and executing health interventions based on genetics.
  • Skilled in interpreting genetic data and applying personalized medicine strategies within population health frameworks.
  • Proficiency in cutting-edge analytical methodologies, tools, and technology.
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging big data, including genomic information, to develop novel health solutions, with a track record of converting complex datasets into tangible insights.
  • Proven ability to convey intricate analytical results to a wide array of stakeholders effectively.
  • Significant leadership and team development experience, with an emphasis on mentorship.
  • Experience in managing contracts and relationships with vendors in contexts that demand intensive data handling.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the healthcare landscape, encompassing the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in personalized medicine.

Education and Certifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a similar discipline is mandatory.
  • A master's degree or higher in Medical Molecular Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a PhD.
  • Additional training or certifications in big data platforms or analytical tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Python, R, SAS, SQL are highly advantageous, reflecting a strong foundation in both the practical and theoretical aspects of data analysis.
  • Executive leadership or management training from an accredited institution or professional body, emphasizing strategic planning, leadership, and organizational change management to support high-level decision-making and team leadership.
  • Certification in genetics counseling or clinical genetics is desirable, indicating a deep understanding of genetic information's implications on patient care and health outcomes.
