About The Opportunity

We are looking for candidates from an environmental background with a passion and experience in carbon quantification and management. Responsibilities

  • Conducting technical assessments on infrastructure projects such as whole life carbon assessments and EIAs;
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement workshops internally and externally, actively contributing low impact ideas and solutions;
  • Supporting clients (local, regional, national and international) on how to decarbonise in line with carbon budgets and Net Zero;
  • Understanding and communicating carbon policies to clients, in support of them developing their own carbon strategies and reduction plans;
  • Working on a range of sectors and supporting wider projects (e.g. corporate carbon footprint (scope 1, 2 and 3), ESG strategies, net zero road maps);
  • Innovating, championing best practice and further developing WSP’s decarbonisation services, tools and methodologies; and
  • Contributing to large and complex proposals.

YOUR TEAM

You’ll be part of a dynamic and growing team that:

  • Produces high quality reports and assessments which support the development of EIAs and whole life cycle assessments;
  • Prepares the groundwork for organisations to be able to pursue meaningful and purpose-led strategies, including setting targets (e.g. science-based, and net zero road maps and strategies);
  • Liaises with multiple technical teams, including design teams, engineers and ecologists; and
  • Has great opportunities for learning, development and progression.

Qualifications

  • Have demonstrable experience in a professional business environment, for instance in consultancy or another relevant organisation;
  • Have a background in EIAs/carbon/net zero projects for a variety of client types;
  • Enjoy interacting with clients at senior manager and executive levels;
  • Have experience of conducting technical assessments in the carbon areas described above;
  • Possess knowledge of UK and international legislation, policy and guidance across the infrastructure sector and carbon;
  • Hold relevant degree (preferably at Masters’ level);
  • Are competent in conducting numerical analyses in Excel, using carbon software and digital platforms, apps and the production of concise, impactful written/presentation outputs to communicate to clients;
  • Knowledge of GHG accounting principles; and
  • Work well with a wide range of people on a global basis.
