General All-Purpose Plastics (GAP) Ltd operates an extrusion site in Aberdare, GAP Homeline, and is seeking a technically proficient technician to join us.


Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will ensure the proper operation and maintenance of our extrusion equipment. This crucial role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on extrusion equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues related to extrusion machinery and make the necessary repairs
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to identify potential problems and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Collaborate with the production team to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise disruptions to production schedules
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including equipment logs, repair orders, and inventory documentation
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new extrusion equipment
  • Train and mentor junior maintenance technicians on equipment maintenance and repair procedures


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of AC / DC motors and drives
  • Experience of heater control instrumentation and thermocouple control
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritise tasks
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment maintenance in an industrial setting



Beneficial experience:

  • Pneumatics fault finding
  • Experience with the extrusion process
  • Experience working in a continuous improvement environment
