Working Days / Hours: 4 on / 4 off (includes weekends on a rota basis) from 6:00am to 6:00pm

About The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager - this role will service, carry out PPM and maintain the laundry equipment at Big Blue and occasional maintenance of the equipment at our other lagoons. You will be required to work in a highly automated environment and use your technical skills to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of the equipment.

Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Servicing & PPMs - regular servicing and planned preventative maintenance of the equipment throughout the facility including commercial and industrial washing machines, tumble driers, rotary irons, finishing and dosing machines
  • Fault Finding - proactively find and prevent faults occurring to equipment reducing breakages and downtime. Report any defects to the site manager that will impact operations
  • In-House Engineering - provide a core competency of engineering skills and be responsible for maintaining machinery to a high standard and minimising issues To provide knowledge and input into continuous improvement of plant, machinery, and maintenance activities
  • Collaboration with external specialists - where specific knowledge/skills are required, you will be responsible for liaising with third parties to solve any issues with the hardware and plan for future installations with a maintenance mentality
  • Stock management - establishing the critical spares required, monitoring stock levels of spare parts and ordering new items where levels reduce below a minimum
  • Health and Safety - ensuring health and safety procedures are followed throughout the facility and improving processes over time


Key Relationships

  • Maintenance Manager - you will report to the Maintenance Manager who will support your development and you in your daily duties.
  • Site managers - you will work very closely with the site managers. They will help you prioritise your tasks in line with the Head of Operations based on business needs
  • Shift Managers / Supervisors - you will work closely with the Shift Managers and Supervisors in order to maintain equipment and provide specialist skills as and when required


Requirements

These are some of the key qualities and competencies required in this role:

Technical competency

  • Fully qualified engineer - with experience in electrical and mechanical engineering
  • Specialist knowledge - You will be familiar with commercial laundry equipment and have good electrical and mechanical competency
  • Driving Licence - A clean full driving licence is required to drive between facilities.
  • Problem Solving - We are expanding and heavily investing in new equipment and methods. You will be able to identify problems and proactively solve them whilst also having the willingness to learn new skills to add to our in-house capabilities
  • PPM - have a strong knowledge of what effective PPM is and how they are carried out to build a scaleable PPM schedule.


Technology, automation and IT literacy

  • Technical and IT literacy - We focus heavily on automation and therefore you will be confident in using technology to optimise our processes and efficiency
  • PLC - Have a strong knowledge of PLC's and their functionality, having a working knowledge of the software behind them


Leadership and collaboration

  • Organisation and detail - Excellence is central to our business. You will assure this through attention to detail and strong organisational skills as well as compliance with Health & Safety within a busy commercial setting
  • Inter-departmental - From time to time you may well be asked to carry out tasks which our outside of your general job role in order to critical tasks such as on time delivery to customers can be achieved.
