Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Environmental Consultant at GPT Environmental Management Services. The Senior Environmental Consultant will be responsible for tasks such as:
- Management and advice to junior consultants and sign off for major projects
- Lead, motivate, and manage the Consultancy team to ensure high performance.
- Provide training and support to enhance the Consultancy skills of team members.
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and stay updated on industry trends within the Consultancy sector and liaise with the Sales Manager to Implement.
- Set Consultancy charge out targets and create action plans for achieving them.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Manager to manage the ISO and associated Environmental standards within the Integrated Management System.
- Maintain good technical relationships with clients.
- Support with ground investigation scope and design.
- Provide and lead field work including soil logging and environmental sampling and monitoring.
- Undertaking audits, inspections and data collection exercises.
- Coordinating spill response onsite, from ensuring the work is conducted in a safe manner to the method implemented to conduct the clean-up.
- Keeping up to date with relevant environmental guidance and legislation.
- Drainage Surveys – CCTV, dye tracing and verification surveys on site followed by reporting. This will include client liaison at all stages of the survey.
- Preparation and checking of technical reports including desk studies, ground investigation reports and remediation options appraisals and verification reports.
- Site work including supervision of intrusive ground investigations and sub-contractor management.
- Data review and analysis.
- Ensuring that all work is delivered in line with our procedures and processes and to the highest quality, health and safety, and environmental standards.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g. geology, engineering, chemistry, environmental science or similar)
- Working towards / be prepared to work towards Chartership with a relevant institution
Experience
- Experience in the preparation of Phase 1 contaminated land desk studies
- Knowledge of the requirements in planning, designing and management of contaminated land and site investigations
- Experience of field logging
- Outline knowledge of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and their application to ground investigations in collaboration with our Safety Team
- Understanding of the land contamination regime within the UK with regard to current and future use of a site, development planning, environmental permitting and due diligence
- Understanding of the risk-based approach to the assessment of land contamination
- Report writing including presenting complex technical information in a concise and accurate manner
- Management Experience Desirable
Skills / Attributes
- Full UK driving licence
- Be willing to travel and spend periods of time away on site based projects or at other depots across the UK for project support
- Communicate effectively, listen and engage, including communicating technical information
- Ability to innovate and develop in your technical area and to continually seek to improve performance in all aspects of your role
