Role overview:
Land Mobility is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the connectivity and accessibility between regions within NEOM.
GIS Engineer will play a key role in the planning of the mobility and transportation networks and systems throughout NEOM. The GIS Data Engineer will be providing support in the development and implementation of the GIS database, system integration, collection of information, policies, and processes to sustain and improve the standard of the Mobility team GIS central database.
GIS Engineer will work closely with all NEOM’s projects office, LM Rail, and Mobility planners, including the Line, and help integrate them into a Neom-wide mobility GIS data while also enabling the planning of mobility network solutions via GIS development.
Key Responsabilities:
- Support the ongoing development and maintenance of Land Mobility’s GIS Corporate database and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Assist GIS team in developing the GIS web application and API integration.
- Develop comprehensive GIS data models GIS data schema for Mobility and contribute to data governance.
- Develop and automate data flow and process to update and maintain integrity of GIS database. Create modify and maintain custom scripts and routines for GIS processes automation and application.
- Create GIS data 3D and 2D visualization to support planning team to understand and evaluate the connectivity within various regions.
- Identify key project stakeholders including various NEOM sectors including Operations, Projects and ETSD, among others, to acquire necessary approvals and to collaborate with for successful project delivery.
- Provision of spatial data analysis, reporting and mapping in a timely and cost-effective manner to internal and external customers.
- Create and maintain database integration with other external systems such as asset management, digital application based on standards set by NEOM and improve the data integrity by field surveys.
- Update corporate systems with data updates from external agencies and the provision of data to third parties (Government agencies, internal business units and Consultants).
- Provide data entry, geocoding, analysis, validation, maintenance, and update of GIS (spatial and attribute) data for the region’s mobility system, mobility projects, land use, environment, and demography. Perform simple to complex mobility spatial analysis to assist NEOM’s Mobility team with information gathering and decision making, including the ability to create and run models in GIS platform, write scripts using Python, and perform network, spatial, and 3D analysis.
- Manage mobility data and synchronization from various data and software sources within the GIS System to integrate all associated mobility data into a unified framework or platform.
- Confirm that work is in accordance with NEOM strategy for GIS Enterprise systems.
- Contribute to the development of GIS decision-making support systems.
- Making periodic reports to management on GIS activities
- Build, maintain and up-keep internal GIS running systems and sub-systems to continuously run live and inform the business without interruption.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a field related to GIS, application development or database with demonstrated proficiency of geographic concepts and what GIS software and database can do.
- A strong interest in all mobility modes, especially active mobility and transit systems
- Strong FME Skills, ability to design and implement workbenches to automate data flow, A/QC and convert different data format.
- A strong interest in planning concepts, such as land use, urban design, transportation policy/design, and economic development
- Work-related or coursework experience with Esri ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Online, ETL)
- An understanding of joins, relates, and database structures (tables, layers, relationship classes) is required, and working knowledge of network analyst tools is strongly preferred.
- Advance knowledge of FME and SQL server is must.
- Proficiency in Python, ArcGIS for JavaScript and/or Model Builder experience is a plus.
- Skills in technical report writing.
- Work experience in transportation organizations with fast-paced operational demands.
- Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to analyze problems and situations and to present appropriate facts and recommendations concisely in written and oral form.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, system users, and the public.
