Lead Software Engineer
Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, ST5 9HX (hybrid, 3 days onsite per week)
Salary: £85k - £110k pa depending on experience (plus performance bonus scheme)
We’re looking to grow our team with the addition of a Lead Software Engineer. This role will play a key part in the development of a new smart & scalable platform that aims to make home energy accessible to masses & empower energy freedom for all.
GivEnergy are the UK’s leading supplier of battery & inverter hardware that manages energy usage in the home & workplace, enabling renewable energy adoption. We have had extraordinary success in recent years (500% revenue growth last year alone) & are investing heavily in our UK software development business. This is a full stack role, where a successful candidate will be leading & advising the team on how to build high quality, maintainable software in both the user interfaces & within our backend & cloud services.
Responsibilities include:
- Within a few months you’ll have decided on what building software correctly should look like for your team. Adopting the tools and processes that will maximise the efficiency of your team & will have started to deliver working software iteratively.
- You’ll have a strong relationship with the product management team, feeding into product requirements & guiding the team to build great features.
- You’ll work with the team to ensure the right tools & technologies are employed.
- You will be contributing in architectural reviews to ensure the organisation is building software consistently with an eye on our future growth.
- You will own your software remaining operational, reducing the time it takes to discover & remedy issues.
What we are looking for:
- At least 5 years of software development experience in a senior role
- At least 3 years of team leadership experience
- Strongly experienced with NodeJS, Typescript, & a frontend framework (e.g. React)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure/etc)
- It would be ideal if you had some experience with hardware/IoT – but not essential.
