Duties
The role is positioned in the Global Brands Supply, Project Engineering team providing Capital Project support to Manufacturing sites including distillation, brewing, spirits and beer packaging and maturation warehousing. The overall purpose of this team is to deliver capital expenditure projects.
The role will be based initially at our manufacturing sites, Cambus/Menstrie(Clacks) and Blythswood(Renfrew).
The candidate must be an experienced Controls and Instrumentation Engineer.
For this role this includes:
- Leading the technical and site implementation of projects ensuring they are successfully commissioned on time and to budget.
- Managing projects, analysing and converting customer asset data into actionable insight and recommendations to drive equipment reliability and performance.
- Plan and lead installation and commissioning work, managing communications with customer site teams in coordination with product businesses.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets, managing critical control points through collaboration across all functions on major milestones.
- Use specialist C&I knowledge to deliver capex projects to correct technical specification.
- Development of cost estimates and project schedules
- Managing efficient spend for capex projects
- Co-ordinating and managing external resources.
- Manage the project lifecycle including capital approval, maintaining accurate financial data including spend and forecast and project closure.
- Manage construction activities and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental standards.
The role holder will have education and experience in controls & instrumentation engineering, with experience of managing the installation of process control systems.
Skills
- Process Control systems (hardware & software)
- Knowledge of S7/PCS7 control software and interrelations.
- Project Management (including scope, cost, budget and timescales)
- Health & Safety Management & co-ordination of contractors
- Extensive experience with industrial sensors, instrumentation and control systems.
- Knowledge of industrial processes and associated automation including IT/OT system convergence.
- Proficiency documenting solution designs using conceptual and physical diagrams.
- Ability to communicate effectively and proactively with customers and internal teams regarding plans, products, issues, timelines and solution value.
Education
• Degree qualified in Controls & Instrumentation, electrical engineering or similar engineering discipline with experience in commissioning monitoring and control systems.
• Prince 2/APM (or equivalent) project management.
• Nebosh Certificate.
