Sustainability / Environmental Lead – Data Centre Project

Location: Newport, South Wales

£70,000-£80,000 + Benefits (car allowance, pension etc.)

A leading international main contractor is seeking a Sustainability / Environmental Advisor to join their team on a major hyperscale data centre development in Newport. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a progressive organisation delivering complex, high-tech projects across the UK and Europe.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and best practices across the lifecycle of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental legislation and company standards
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
Support the delivery of sustainability strategies and targets (e.g. BREEAM, circular economy, carbon reduction)
Advise site teams on environmental and sustainability matters
Prepare environmental reports and maintain project documentation
Liaise with clients, local authorities, and third-party stakeholders
Promote a culture of continuous environmental improvement on-site

Requirements:

A degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related discipline
Prior experience working in a similar advisory role within construction
Knowledge of relevant UK environmental legislation and sustainability frameworks
Strong communication and organisational skills
Previous experience on data centre or high-tech construction projects is highly desirable
