About the Role
If you are eager to learn and are not afraid to dive straight into new challenges, this role is a great opportunity to be part of something innovative and new in the UK solar space. As a Solar Technical Associate at Sunsave, you will be responsible for planning and supporting the delivery of residential solar installations through our installation partners. You will be a technical expert within Sunsave’s Operations Team, supporting team members coordinating installation projects and providing escalated technical support for installed customers.
As a Solar Technical Associate, you will:
- Become a subject matter expert on solar and battery storage installation, reviewing and signing off solar designs and answering challenging technical queries from the sales team.
- Conduct surveys of Sunsave’s customer properties to assess feasibility for installation of solar and other renewable tech.
- Use information from Sunsave’s remote surveys to create outline installation plans and communicate these to installers.
- Provide your expertise to support the Customer Operations team when handling technical queries from customers, before and after installation.
- Be able to travel to Sunsave’s HQ in Soho, London on a regular basis as well as occasionally to installations in your area.
This is primarily a desk-based role, reporting into the Technical Manger. However, there will be opportunities for you to travel to site and even get on the tools occasionally if this is something you want to do.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential Requirements
- You are a team player, willing to get stuck in and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- You hold Electrical Installation /Electrical Engineering Level 2 and Level 3 Qualifications and/or electrical engineering university degree.
- Knowledge of, or an interest in Solar PV, Battery, EV charger, and Heat Pump installations.
- Good knowledge of wiring regulations (having an 18th Edition qualification is preferred but not required).
- Ability to work with a diverse range of team members, communicate effectively, and work independently where needed.
- Full UK driving licence strongly preferred.
Desirable but not required (upskill training can be offered)
- IET 18th Edition (BS7671) Level 3
- NVQ Level 3
- Experience with solar, EV charging or heat pump installations, and solar design software (e.g. one of OpenSolar, PVSol, PVSyst, etc)
