You might be the perfect fit for our Hostel General Manager role at Base Camp Snowdonia, Betws-Y-Coed, North Wales.
We are looking for someone who can oversee all aspects of hostel operations, ensure high levels of guest satisfaction, and manage and motivate a team. You will also monitor and control costs, collaborate with other departments, stay updated on industry trends and best practices, and maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and team members.
You will be our brand’s face and voice, providing exceptional service and resolving any guest issues or complaints. You will also be our team’s guide and mentor, hiring, training, scheduling, and leading team members. Most importantly, you are an adventurer and explorer, advising and facilitating local activities for our guests, such as hiking, biking, climbing, or other passions.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee reception, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance operations.
- Provide exceptional service and resolve any guest issues or complaints.
- Hire, train, schedule, and lead team members.
- Monitor and control costs in line with budget guidelines.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate operations and ensure the smooth functioning of the hostel.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and team members.
- Step up and step in for any situation for our guests’ experience.
- Advise and facilitate a range of local activities for our guests, such as hiking, biking, climbing, or another passion.
What we’re looking for:
- A passion for all things adventure and Snowdonia.
- A proven track record of providing a great and memorable guest experience.
- Self-sufficiency, requiring little direction and day-to-day management.
- A flexible and adaptable approach with a can-do attitude.
- Hospitality management experience (hotels, student living, hostels, including broader hospitality sectors experience).
- Leadership skills and creating an environment where your team can be their best selves.
- Awareness and competence in all health and safety procedures and policies.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Tech-savvy, not shying away from tech-based resolutions and interaction.
- A knowledge of food production and kitchen operations is preferred.
- Familiarity with Mews hotel management software systems is a plus.
- Creativity, enthusiasm, curiosity, and respect for nature and people.
