The business works closely with sister companies through the planning, permitting/licensing, engineering and design and construction of green hydrogen projects. Green Cat Hydrogen is dedicated to growing the hydrogen industry as a whole, supporting potential hydrogen Hydrogen Off taker in assessing the suitability of Hydrogen to meet their needs, and where required, understanding the requirements for and impacts of Hydrogen fuel utilisation at their sites.
We are seeking a motivated and talented Junior Project Engineer with an engineering background to support the progression of projects focussed on the integration of Hydrogen into existing client operations - in support of the wider Green Cat Hydrogen Production Facility Projects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the Green Cat Hydrogen team, across a range of technical engineering and wider business development disciplines, making this role suited to a graduate or recent entrant into the engineering sector looking to gain experience in the Hydrogen or wider renewables sector.
The Role:
- Take ownership of Hydrogen Off taker projects, supporting multi-disciplinary (civil, mechanical, electrical, control etc) feasibility assessments from preliminary assessment to detailed FEED Studies.
- Management of technical communications with Hydrogen Off taker and technical support for Development Team activities.
- Manage project stakeholders (consultants, equipment suppliers, clients) to ensure successful project delivery.
- Co-ordinate and manage external resources and activities (e.g. site surveys).
- Assist in the development of project cost estimates.
- Assist in the development of project schedules.
- Ensure all project activities comply with all relevant health, safety and environmental standards
- Assist in the preparation of key project documentation (e.g. specifications and Hydrogen Off taker reports).
- Participate in project meetings and complete assigned follow-up actions in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the internal GCH team to ensure that other departments can effectively support projects and deliver for our clients.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends and technologies.
The Candidate must have:
- A degree in engineering (e.g. chemical, mechanical, electrical) or a related field.
- The ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver to required deadlines.
- A strong academic record demonstrating technical proficiency and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel to site as necessary, supported by a valid UK driving license.
- Legal right to work full-time in the United Kingdom, in perpetuity.
The Candidate would benefit from:
- Relevant work experience in an engineering or project development role (up to 2 years).
- Knowledge or experience with renewable energy technologies and/or project management tools and processes (e.g. PRINCE2, APM or PMI).
- Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
- Active membership in recognised engineering institutions or societies.
