Junior Test Engineer (Energy Storage Systems)
Location: Fully on-site at our GivEnergy UK Head Office in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. You must have the ability to reliably commute, or plan to relocate before starting work
Schedule: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
Experience Level: As this is a junior position, a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role is preferred
Salary: £25K - £35k pa DOE and qualification level

What You’ll Be Doing
- Working with the senior team to create and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and test reports, documenting test results, defects, and improvements.
- Provide feedback to the engineering team regarding test results and performance metrics.
- Identify, diagnose, and report hardware/software issues to the development team, assisting with root cause analysis and resolution.
- Work closely with engineers to isolate problems in both hardware and software layers of renewable energy systems.
- Ensure that all testing complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols relevant to renewable energy technologies.
- Assist in system-level integration testing for renewable energy systems, ensuring seamless operation between hardware components (e.g., inverters, batteries, EV chargers) and software systems.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum requirements:
- 1 years’ testing/QA experience in software.
- ISTQB certified.
Including an understanding and competence in:
- Experience with defect and test management software (e.g. Jira).
- Knowledge testing web and mobile applications.
- Familiarity with various testing techniques.
- Great troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Writing test cases, check lists and test plans.
It would also be advantageous if you had some competence in the following:
- Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence).
- Experience working with APIs.
- Test estimations.
- Basic Database concepts.
- Hardware testing.
