Solar Electrician - Job Description (Full UK Coverage, with Offices based in both the Midlands and London).
We are looking for a confident and energetic Solar Electrician to help drive the installations reporting directly to the Director of Operations, providing an excellent opportunity to directly contribute to the growth of our company during this exciting period of expansion. The role will require you to work from home or the office occasionally (Midlands & London offices), and visiting potential clients across the UK. It is expected to have knowledge and technical understanding of the solar market. Operational, Commercial, and Health & Safety Responsibilities:
Operational
- Demonstrate leadership by undertaking the electrical installation work and upholding exceptional quality standards when carrying out works on projects.
- Provide technical knowledge, support, and advice to both team members and clients.
- Advise and assist on all electrical installations during regular operations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with teams, clients, and consultants.
- Communicate regularly with the NICEIC to ensure Arin Power stays compliant with all enrolment requirements.
- Manage the NICEIC registration process, including handling the annual assessment.
- Serve as the NICEIC qualified supervisor, overseeing, compiling, and authorising NICEIC/MCS certifications.
- Review, approve, and distribute all electrical certification and documentation created by staff, ensuring records are accurate and tickets are checked.
- Survey and assess client site work to guarantee compliance with relevant regulations and legislation, including IET Wiring regulations and Health & Safety standards.
- Take responsibility for developing and delivering a range of contracts to schedule and within budget, aiming to maximise profit.
- Oversee the allocation of labour and resources to optimise productivity and achieve strong performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues in departments where planned work is taking place, supporting resource management.
- Personally carry out installation work as part of a practical, hands-on approach.
- Supervise the training of electricians, with the goal of improving testing and inspection quality.
- Mentor and manage apprentices.
- Identify compliance issues needing further attention and ensure they are resolved promptly and effectively.
- Communicate with customers and colleagues as required, both informally and through formal meetings.
- Discuss and promote additional services with clients and consultants to create further business opportunities.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks and heavy workloads, setting priorities as necessary.
- Demonstrate flexibility in meeting business needs as required.
- Be willing to travel to client sites across the UK, including overnight stays, with all relevant expenses reimbursed.
Commercial
- Increase operative productivity and commercial returns while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Keep up to date with new systems that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of all electrical work.
- Respond quickly to client requests for additional work or information.
- Obtain site instructions and supporting documents needed for quotations and later financial submissions.
Health & Safety
- Ensure all work on site is performed with safety as the top priority.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout all teams.
- Adopt a zero-tolerance approach to non-compliance with health and safety standards.
- Assist in preparing RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) documents.
- Participate in team briefings.
- Deliver health and safety Tool Box Talks when needed.
- Proactively seek opportunities to reduce health and safety risks on and off site.
- Promptly alert senior management to any compliance or safety issues.
