We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference.
Help Deliver One of the UK’s Largest Industrial Transformations
We are currently delivering one of the UK’s most ambitious industrial transitions – Project Invictus – a £1.25 billion transformation of our steelmaking operations, including the construction of a new electric arc furnace (EAF) at our Port Talbot site.
This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth, safe and efficient flow of people, vehicles, equipment and services into and around site – helping to keep one of the largest construction projects in the UK running to schedule.
What you will do
As the Logistics Lead, you’ll be responsible for coordinating day-to-day logistics activities across Project Invictus, with a strong focus on equipment movement, supplier interface, and site-wide traffic and delivery control.
This includes working closely with contractors, machinery movers, procurement teams and site operations to manage complex delivery schedules and ensure the safe handling and positioning of a wide range of industrial equipment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing site access, laydown areas, and haulage coordination
- Supporting safe unloading, rigging and movement of large-scale machinery and equipment
- Working with specialist equipment movers and transport providers
- Coordinating across suppliers, contractors, internal teams and security
- Contributing to logistics strategy and planning for the EAF build and wider site development
- Maintaining accurate site delivery schedules, permits and compliance records
- Ensuring traffic flow and safety across live construction zones
- Monitoring and escalating delivery issues or bottlenecks
This is a site-based, hands-on role where you’ll need to think on your feet, communicate clearly under pressure, and ensure all moving parts operate smoothly.
What you will need
We’re looking for a logistics professional with strong coordination and organisational skills, ideally with experience in large-scale construction, industrial environments or military logistics. You’ll need to be comfortable managing multiple stakeholders, solving problems on the ground, and ensuring compliance in a complex, high-paced environment.
You’ll need:
- Proven experience in equipment movement logistics, site operations or capital project logistics
- A working knowledge of health and safety, load security, and permit-to-work systems
- Experience interfacing with suppliers, contractors and internal functions
- Strong communication skills and confidence managing external partners
- The ability to think ahead, adapt quickly and execute plans under pressure
- Familiarity with rigging, heavy transport or machinery relocation would be an advantage
Experience in logistics for major capital programmes, military operations or large-scale construction would be highly beneficial.
