Position Title: Solar Designer
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 + Training & Career Progression
Location: Kent / Hybrid (2–3 days office-based)
Your New Employer
Join a fast-growing renewable energy company that’s making solar power more accessible to homes across the UK. With strong financial backing, an ambitious growth plan, and a collaborative team culture, this business is focused on developing people as much as projects. You’ll be joining a supportive, down-to-earth team where progression, training, and teamwork are at the heart of what they do.
Your New Role
As a Solar Designer, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering residential solar PV systems. Around 60% of your time will be spent creating and reviewing design packs, layouts, and drawings (using tools like OpenSolar or similar), while the other 40% will focus on handling DNO applications (G98, G99, G100), managing project documentation, and liaising between the design and operations teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
You’ll work closely with experienced engineers who will guide and support your growth, giving you the opportunity to strengthen both your technical and project coordination skills. The team offers flexibility with hybrid working (typically three days in the office) and a relaxed, collaborative environment where ideas are valued.
Your Background
You’ll ideally bring at least two years of experience in solar design or a similar technical role, with a solid understanding of solar layouts, string configurations, and inverter selection. Familiarity with DNO applications and G98/G99/G100 processes is beneficial, but not essential for someone eager to learn. Candidates from electrical or renewable energy backgrounds with an interest in solar design are encouraged to apply.
In Return
You’ll receive a competitive salary between £28,000 and £35,000, depending on experience, along with ongoing training, hands-on mentorship, and a clear pathway to progress. The company is passionate about helping people grow, so whether you want to deepen your design expertise or move into project leadership, you’ll have the support and opportunity to make it happen.
