We are delighted to be working with a leading environmental contracting and land remediation business, which is currently recruiting for an experienced SHEQ Manager / HSE Manager.
Delivering safe, sustainable, and high:quality solutions across the UK, our client specialises in transforming contaminated and brownfield land into safe, usable spaces for communities and future development.
The Role
As SHEQ Manager, youll oversee all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality across multiple environmental, civil, and remediation projects. Youll ensure compliance with relevant legislation and ISO standards while embedding a positive SHEQ culture and driving continuous improvement.
This is a hands:on role suited to a proactive professional who enjoys influencing teams, improving systems, and ensuring the safe and sustainable delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and continually improve the companys SHEQ / HSE management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across multiple project sites.
- Provide expert Health and Safety, Environmental, and Quality advice to project teams.
- Deliver training, inductions, and toolbox talks to strengthen site safety culture.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Liaise with clients, regulators, and senior management to maintain high SHEQ standards.
- Monitor and report on SHEQ performance and KPIs.
- Support bids and tenders with SHEQ input and risk management advice.
Candidate Requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification) : essential.
- Member of IOSH (TechIOSH / GradIOSH / CMIOSH preferred).
- Sound knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, Environmental regulations, and Quality Management Systems.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a SHEQ / HSE / Health and Safety management role within construction, civil engineering, or environmental remediation.
- Proven ability to manage ISO:certified systems (9001, 14001, 45001).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching skills.
- Strong auditing and incident:investigation experience.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
