Pembrokeshire has been among Wales top recycling authorities since 2019, and we are now looking for a Local Environment Advisor to join our innovative Environmental Services Team..
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Local Environment Officer to join our Environment Services Division. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving local environmental quality across Pembrokeshire helping to make our communities cleaner, greener and more sustainable.
You will work directly with residents, businesses, and community groups to promote responsible environmental behaviour, encourage recycling, and tackle issues such as fly-tipping, littering, and poor waste presentation. The role is community-focused and field-based, requiring a hands-on approach and a real passion for making a visible difference.
You will be actively supporting PCC to achieve its core objective to be one of the top recycling Authorities in Wales making a greener and cleaner Pembrokeshire. You will also support our ambitions surrounding continuous service improvement for an efficient service whilst meeting Welsh Governments targets and legislation.
Roles Available
We are seeking permanent post for Local Environmental Advisor
Requirement of the role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence behaviour and encourage compliance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in field-based operations.
- Excellent organisational skills for managing records, correspondence, and reports.
- Competent in using IT systems to maintain data and produce reports.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work flexibly in response to operational needs.
- Knowledge of environmental issues, including local environmental quality, waste management, recycling, and sustainability practices.
- Understanding of environmental legislation and regulations related to waste, fly-tipping, littering, and household waste presentation.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills for reporting, record-keeping, and preparing evidence/statistics
- Full, clean driving licence and ability to travel across Pembrokeshire (Council vehicle provided).
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work unsocial hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Good physical mobility for door-to-door inspections, site visits, and community events.
