Role Details:
Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer – Teesside
Altrad are currently on the lookout for a Rotating Equipment Engineer to join the business to lead and deliver high-quality rotating equipment engineering solutions across all phases for Greenfield and Brownfield projects in Carbon Capture, Hydrogen, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, and Oil & Gas sectors ensuring safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in line with health, safety, environmental, and security standards.
Key Deliverables:
- As technical authority for rotating equipment, you will provide expert guidance in the design, selection, performance optimisation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rotating machinery such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors.
- Performs detailed mechanical design calculations, and develops specifications, datasheets, and requisitions for all types of mechanical equipment on high-value engineering projects.
- Reviews and approves work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
- Support multidisciplinary design reviews and provide engineering guidance to other disciplines and stakeholders.
- Liaise with vendors to ensure equipment compliance, performance, and operability during procurement and manufacturing stages.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs), inspections, and technical audits.
- Provide technical input to risk assessments, HAZOPs, and reliability studies.
- Participates in reviews related to constructability, operability, and maintainability. Resolves site issues, and provides on-site support for construction and commissioning. Contributes to construction, testing, commissioning, operations and maintenance documents.
- Assists the project management team with issues affecting project completion and profitability. Plans, controls & reports on project work. Supports the management of change process.
- Collaborates with stakeholders and management to deliver proposals, estimate costs, input to plans and develop execution strategies. May lead technical proposals and presentations to customers.
Key Requirements:
- Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in similar industries.
- Chartered accreditation with the IMechE is preferred.
- Proficiency as a lead engineer on complex engineering projects and proven track record of successful mechanical project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of rotating machinery design, performance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to assess complex engineering problems and propose effective, pragmatic solutions.
- Ensures all deliverables meet stringent quality and compliance standards.
- Works independently, leads high-performing teams and collaborates with senior stakeholders.
- Project management skills and a decision-maker, who can manage and prioritise multiple workloads simultaneously. Understands project execution processes, scheduling, and risk management.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships. Communicates clearly, both verbally and in writing, and encourages feedback from others.
- Leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers and support the team in achieving their objectives.
- Ability to balance technical decisions with cost, reliability, and lifecycle considerations.
