ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Head of Site Delivery, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of EV charging infrastructure across the UK—from strategic pre-construction planning to on-the-ground execution. You will own Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) governance, manage pre-construction feasibility and stakeholder alignment, and oversee all construction activity to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project delivery. This role is pivotal to scaling a safe, compliant, and future-ready charge point network.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operational Leadership
- Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams (engineering, civils, grid, contractors) across the full lifecycle of EV charger deployment.
- Translate commercial and network expansion goals into executable infrastructure delivery plans.
- Pre-Construction & Planning
- Oversee site feasibility assessments, planning permissions, grid connections, and surveys.
- Collaborate with partnerships, legal, and Data & Analytics teams to secure and mobilise sites.
- Identify and mitigate site-specific risks prior to mobilisation.
- Construction Management
- Oversee all construction phases including civils, electrical install, commissioning, and handover.
- Ensure programme, quality, and cost control across all build partners and contractors.
- Manage supply chain performance, contracts, and SLAs.
- Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Oversight
- Own all HSE strategy and compliance, including CDM, RAMS, and incident reporting.
- Ensure alignment with ISO standards (e.g. ISO 45001, 14001) and internal HSE policies.
- Lead regular audits, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Performance & Reporting
- Monitor and report KPIs including build velocity, safety metrics, and budget adherence.
- Implement operational dashboards, forecasting tools, and delivery governance frameworks.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years' experience in infrastructure delivery, ideally in EV charging, utilities, construction, telecoms, or energy.
- Proven leadership of multi-site capital projects, ideally at £multi-million scale.
- Strong HSE background with CDM knowledge and NEBOSH/IOSH certification.
- Deep understanding of DNO/grid coordination, civils works, and contractor management.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience with EV charger OEMs, installers, or CPO platforms.
- Degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
- Familiarity with permitting, planning, and land acquisition processes.
