SLR is currently recruiting a Project Manager for multi-disciplinary projects across a wide range of construction and development sectors throughout the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a leading multidisciplinary company, on a variety of different contracts spanning multiple technical areas.
The Role
A Project Manager will work within the Commercial and Project Management Team, mainly based in our Greater Manchester office, assisting our lead Project Managers in the commercial and management of projects. You will be expected to demonstrate proactivity, leadership and people management skills in order to ensure that we deliver an efficient commercial and contractual management service to company projects.
You’ll be involved with all aspects of the project lifecycle from tender to completion, inputting into pricing and seeking to minimise the costs of a project/ enhance value for money, whilst achieving the required standards and quality in accordance with contract and client expectations.
Responsibilities
Working under the direction of, and reporting to a more senior project manager, the role will offer you the chance to develop and help grow the team’s services, thought responsibilities including:
- Producing project programmes and disseminating information.
- Dealing with day-to-day queries from site and technical teams and ensuring they are adhering to the scope and specifications of the project.
- Reporting to project teams on progress against programme and budget.
- Undertaking the efficient and effective management and issuing of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence.
- Ensuring contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified to the Contract Leader at pricing stage.
- Preparation and agreement of applications for payment or the assessment & preparation of payment certificates.
- Maintaining registers of variations, delay, extension times and claims.
- Assist in change management and cost control.
- Assist with preparation of monthly progress valuations and claims for work completed.
- Assist in the production of monthly cost reports and forecasts.
- Produce pre-contract tender reports.
- Review value management and advise on risk management.
- Understanding the implications of health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensure all health, safety and environmental risk situations are brought to the attention of the senior project manager.
- Carrying out regular site visits to inspect quality of work and compliance with the plan, where required.
- Contribute to securing opportunities and repeat clients due to the exceptional service delivered.

About You
Along with a minimum of one year of experience in a project management role, ideally within a construction related industry, you’ll have a relevant degree, be self-motivated, highly organised and be able to independently manage your workload.
- Highly conscientious and pride himself/herself on quality and attention to detail;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office and MS Project would be highly beneficial
- Builds respectful, trusting and productive relationships with internal, external customers and other stakeholders;
- React promptly to meet and exceed client requests, ensuring a positive and memorable experience; and
- Leads and encourages an environment of confidence and respect.
- A full driving licence
Experience of understanding and/or administering common forms of construction contract conditions (particularly NEC) would be highly beneficial, along with sound knowledge of health and safety considerations and legislation. If you hold or are working towards a relevant qualification such as APM, CEng, NECReg or similar, that would be great, but if not there can be opportunity to do so.
