Are you ready to join the mission to secure vital investment in our energy system while protecting the interests of consumers across Great Britain? Ofgem is looking for a Chief Financial Advisor to join us and help lead our regulatory finance strategy, influencing multibillion-pound decisions that will shape the energy sector for decades to come.
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero and supporting growth whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.
We’re offering a permanent senior leadership role that gives you the opportunity to directly shape the regulatory and investment landscape of the UK’s energy infrastructure. Working at the intersection of corporate finance, energy policy and regulation, this is your chance to steer one of the most high-profile areas of Ofgem’s work. Together with the Deputy Director for Regulatory Finance, you’ll jointly lead a diverse team of multidisciplinary professionals and play a key role in securing fair, robust, and investable outcomes for consumers and markets alike.
This is a pivotal position where your leadership will influence decisions at the highest levels, including Ofgem’s Board (GEMA) and Executive Committee. From overseeing investor relations to advising on price controls and funding models, your input will help determine how Great Britain attracts and manages investment into regulated energy sectors. Your financial advice will also support innovation in emerging areas such as hydrogen, long-duration energy storage, and financing low-carbon infrastructure.
We’re looking for someone with inspiring leadership credentials, coupled with deep knowledge of corporate finance, capital markets and price control frameworks. You’ll bring the authority to advise board-level stakeholders, the credibility to engage with industry and investors, and the analytical depth to shape complex financial policy.
In return, you’ll join a high-impact organisation that values professional excellence and public purpose. You’ll benefit from a collaborative executive environment, office locations across the country, as well as remote working options, and the chance to influence one of the most important transitions in UK economic and environmental history.
We have a critical purpose to enable the investment required for our energy future, at a cost that is fair for investors and consumers. This is your opportunity to help shape the regulatory environment that makes that possible, with lasting impact on people, policy and planet.
