The Responsible Commodities Sourcing Initiative (RECOSI) is a global membership organisation that develops solutions to drive continuous improvement in responsible commodities sourcing. Our members are the most forward-thinking utilities and infrastructure providers who work together on improving sustainability performance across their energy commodities supply chains.
We develop sector-specific ESG programmes with over a decade of experience in operating an international standard and assurance framework for coal. We have expanded to develop a new gas supply chain due diligence framework – RECOSI Gas. About the Role
The ESG Programmes & Engagement Lead is a dynamic position designed for someone keen to progress their career in ESG due diligence programmes and sustainability engagement. You will support RECOSI's mission of driving continuous improvement in responsible energy commodity sourcing while developing expertise in ESG assessments, member engagement, and corporate communications. This is a hybrid role combining programme coordination, member engagement, and strategic communications, providing exposure to all aspects of RECOSI's operations.
Core Responsibilities
Coordination & Project Management
· Support multiple workstreams across our coal and gas programmes as well as our exploratory work on hydrogen and bioenergy
· Manage dedicated projects within selected workstreams, support project scope development, oversee contractor engagement, ensure timely delivery and escalate as needed
· Organise meetings, agendas, and supporting materials for member meetings and country working groups
· Work autonomously while collaborating closely with the core team
Member & Stakeholder Engagement
· Contribute to member working group activities and event coordination
· Present RECOSI's work to members and stakeholders as appropriate
· Serve as a key point of contact for member queries and support across programmes
· Facilitate communication between members, stakeholders, and the RECOSI team
ESG Programmes & Supplier Support
· Support supplier communication, recruitment, onboarding, and progression through our programmes and assessment processes
· Coordinate assessments and assurance activities, including liaising with assessors and suppliers, as well as managing assessment platforms
· Monitor assessment data and Continuous Improvement Plans and to track progress
· Manage documentation and ensure compliance with programme requirements
· Support capacity-building initiatives including webinar development and resource creation
Internal & External Communications
· Support development of internal member communications (newsletters, updates, meeting materials)
· Contribute to external communications strategies across digital channels (Squarespace website, LinkedIn)
· Assist with translating RECOSI's technical work into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences
· Support events and external engagement activities
Essential Experience & Skills
· 2–3 years' experience in project management and stakeholder engagement, ideally in energy, mining, sustainability, or related sectors
· Ability to work independently with a small core team and a network of global stakeholders
· Self-motivated and proactive: able to identify opportunities to improve processes and communications
· Interest in membership organisations and understanding of member value proposition and engagement
· Strong stakeholder engagement ability: comfortable presenting to and liaising with diverse audiences including members, suppliers, and internal leadership
· Project management capability: comfortable multi-tasking across varied initiatives with different timelines
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail, particularly in written outputs
· Genuine interest in sustainability and energy supply chains, particularly responsible sourcing standards
Desirable Skills
· Experience working with multiple stakeholders and navigating different perspectives
· Interest in energy sector communications or sustainability reporting (CSRD, EUMR, etc.)
· Experience developing or managing online platforms or databases
· Experience working across multiple countries or regions

Terms & Conditions
Salary: £40,000-45,000 (commensurate with experience)
Benefits: 4% pension contribution, 25 days annual leave
Working Style: Remote-based with required regular in-person meetings in Central London, flexibility for occasional travel to observe assessments or attend events
