Market: Commercial & Industrial Rooftop Solar + Battery Energy Storage (BESS)
Lifecycle Responsibility: Lead → Development → Financial Close → Contracting → Handover → Construction
About the Role
We’re seeking a talented Solar & Battery Developer to join a growing UK renewable energy team.
You will own projects end-to-end, - from first customer contact, through development, financial close, contracting, and handover to construction. Working alongside a small, dynamic team of developers, engineers, and project managers, you’ll be supported by specialist functions such as Procurement, Legal, and Investment Analysis.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the transition to decentralised, sustainable energy. You will develop rooftop solar and battery storage projects for commercial and industrial clients, helping them cut carbon and unlock real energy savings.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and originate new opportunities with C&I customers, property owners, and developers.
- Conduct technical and commercial feasibility studies, including rooftop assessments and battery modelling.
- Manage development activities and coordinate engineering, procurement, legal, and financial workstreams.
- Prepare financial models and business cases (CAPEX, OPEX, merchant revenues, grid costs).
- Oversee DNO grid connection applications (G99 / G100).
- Manage due diligence: structural surveys, DNO assessments, H&S, and electrical studies.
- Negotiate roof lease agreements, EPC/O&M contracts, PPAs, and flexibility agreements.
- Prepare and present investment papers to stakeholders.
- Ensure smooth handover to construction after financial close.
About You
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Renewables, or Business.
- 5+ years’ experience developing solar, battery storage, or other energy projects in the C&I sector.
- Strong understanding of DNO processes, UK planning regulations, HSSEQ standards, and commercial contracting frameworks.
- Confident negotiator with strong commercial acumen.
- Excellent stakeholder management and analytical skills.
- Fluent in English.
Location & Working Pattern
- Flexible, although proximity to London is preferred.
- Hybrid working: 2 days in the office, 2 days remote, 1 flexible day.
- Travel required for client meetings and occasional visits to head office (Rotterdam).
- Collaborative online environments supported (Microsoft Teams), with recognition of the importance of in-person meetings.
What We Offer

- Medical insurance
- 30 days holiday plus statutory days
- Cycle-to-work scheme
