Windward is an ambitious group of businesses focused on creating a more sustainable and resilient energy future. They are focused on delivering the infrastructure and innovation needed to drive the UK’s transition to a net-zero energy system. Since their launch in 2018, they’ve built a portfolio spanning wind energy, green hydrogen, long-duration energy storage, and grid development. Their business model is centred on creating long-term value through thoughtful, strategic development and a deep understanding of the energy landscape.
We’re now seeking a Chief of Staff to act as a trusted advisor to their CEO and play a critical role in aligning strategic priorities, improving operational effectiveness, and enabling impactful leadership. This is a unique opportunity to shape and support the leadership of a fast-moving, impact-driven organisation. As a strategic partner and operational right hand to the CEO, the Chief of Staff will lead the execution of key initiatives, manage cross-functional alignment, and ensure that high-value decisions receive timely attention. The role oversees the CEO’s support team and maintains close working relationships with the executive team, board, and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include coordinating the group’s strategic planning and objective setting, ensuring smooth governance and board operations, and acting as a representative of the CEO in high-level meetings and external engagements. The role also supports the CEO’s investment portfolio, charitable activities, and external presence, including communications and professional platforms.
The ideal candidate will be degree-educated, with an MBA or other advanced qualification viewed favourably. They will have significant experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, or senior operational leadership, ideally within complex or high-growth environments. A strong understanding of strategic planning, business operations, and governance is essential, along with the ability to exercise sound judgment and operate with autonomy and accountability. The role demands excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting executive-level materials. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in high-visibility roles, managing multiple priorities, and representing the CEO externally with professionalism and confidence.
