Purpose of the Role
As a Sustainable Material Analyst at Whitecroft Lighting, you will be responsible for producing sustainability data (LCA/EPD) for the business and its partners, to optimise material usage, and minimise the environmental footprint of our products and the buildings we supply.
Key Responsibilities
Material Lifecycle Analysis
• Conduct in-depth assessments of materials and products to understand their environmental impact, including carbon footprint, energy consumption, and resource depletion.
• Evaluate the sustainability credentials of alternative materials and assess their feasibility for implementation.
• Utilize life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies including EPDs, TM65, C2C, TM66 etc to quantify environmental impacts and identify areas for improvement.
Circular Product Life-Cycle Reporting
• Support the business in the feasibility, market need and implementation of future product life cycle metrics such as ‘Material Passports’. Material Innovation Development
• Research and identify sustainable alternative options for materials, considering factors such as renewable resources, recycled content, and ethical sourcing practices.
• Support different parts of the business through analysis and guidance in the appropriate selection of materials to meet wider sustainability strategic ambitions. These would include but not limited to: Operations, Purchasing, Product Design, and Product Management.
Market Analysis and Insights
• Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations and industry standards related to material usage and life cycle assessment.
• Engage with key customers, partners, and stakeholders in the lighting industry, and wider value chain within the application of environmental sustainability. Delivery of Technical Content
• Support the product management team in the delivery of lighting technical data (Revit, Relux & DIALux) needed to support our customers, lighting design and salesforce in the design of lighting solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Materials Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong understanding of sustainability targets, principles and practices, with knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Passionate about environmental sustainability and making a positive impact through your work.
Desirable
• Specific Lighting industry knowledge and experience
• Use of OneClick LCA software
• Experience with Revit/BIM software.
