Trainee Reliability & Systems Engineer
Department: Reliability Services
Location: Stoke-on-Trent (with regular UK customer site work)
Job Type: Full Time
Salary: competitive
About the Role
We’re offering an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start their career as a Trainee Reliability Engineer within our expanding Reliability Services team. This could be someone looking to pivot from a current engineering role or an individual with a keen attitude and the aptitude to learn.
This is a hands-on, site-focused role where you’ll support the delivery of condition-based maintenance solutions that help our customers reduce downtime, extend asset life, and improve operational performance.
Alongside developing core reliability engineering skills, you’ll be mentored in software and systems development to support our Meerkat Condition Monitoring System. This makes the position ideal for someone interested in how digital tools, data, and practical engineering come together in real industrial environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
Working with experienced engineers and reliability specialists, you’ll gain practical experience in areas such as:
- Assisting with installation and commissioning of condition monitoring equipment
- Collecting and validating machinery and process data on customer sites
- Supporting diagnostics and reliability assessments
- Helping customers understand system outputs and recommended actions
- Assisting with the setup, configuration, and ongoing development of the Meerkat Condition Monitoring platform
- Contributing to continuous improvement of our monitoring methods and technologies
Expect a varied role that combines travel, customer interaction, hands-on engineering, and exposure to developing software-driven reliability solutions.
Training & Development
You won’t be expected to know everything from day one. You’ll receive structured mentoring from our team, building your knowledge of:
- Industrial equipment and common failure modes
- Predictive and condition-based maintenance practices
- Data acquisition and interpretation
- How software platforms are developed and adapted to support engineering outcomes
Over time, you’ll grow into a key contributor within both field reliability activities and the evolution of our Meerkat system.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong desire to succeed.
You’ll likely have:
- A genuine interest in engineering and technology
- A practical mindset and enjoyment of hands-on work
- An analytical approach to problem-solving
- Confidence communicating with colleagues and customers
- Basic IT familiarity, whether gained through education, personal projects, or early work experience
- A willingness to travel and work on industrial sites
Most important is your attitude, work ethic, and commitment to developing new skills.
