Building on the success of our long-established Carbon and Energy Management and Corporate Sustainability teams, we are looking for an enthusiastic graduate with relevant qualifications, or early career Consultant with experience in the assessment of greenhouse gas emissions calculation and sustainability reporting to work alongside our experienced team of consultants, supporting in the delivery of high quality project outputs to our established and varied client base. Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong analytical and numerical skills, be well organised, self-motivated and an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills. The role
Examples of projects that you would be expected to help deliver might include:
- Greenhouse gas calculations and reporting of Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions in accordance with the methodologies of the GHG Protocol and similar standards.
- Calculations and reporting to support our clients in accordance with Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) guidelines
- Supporting clients in the preparation of submissions to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
- Development of Net Zero Carbon strategies and Net Zero Roadmap modelling
- Supporting clients in the development of targets in accordance with the methodology set out by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
- Identification and quantification of energy efficiency and carbon reduction opportunities on client sites through energy and decarbonisation site surveys and audits
- Preparation of reports and presentations for clients, summarising findings and recommendations
- Advising organisations on best practice and environmental legislation
Past experience in the knowledge or delivery of these or similar services will be viewed as an advantage.

About You
Essential requirements:
- Qualified to degree-level or higher, within a relevant environmental science, science or engineering-related subject.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative as well as working effectively as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate directly and confidently with our clients and a broad range of stakeholders
- Computer literacy including familiarity with Microsoft Office in particular MS Excel
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail
- Excellent time-management and task prioritisation
- Demonstrable interest in developing a career in the environmental, energy and/or sustainability consulting sector
Desirable
- Member of a relevant technical professional body, e.g. ISEP/Energy Institute, with a desire to work towards Chartered or Practitioner status
- Past experience working in the environmental, sustainability or energy sector
- Full UK driving licence
We are ideally looking for a consultant to be located in SLR’s Manchester office, although other locations will be considered.
