Job Overview
Vital Group, a leading power solution and DC charging provider in the UK, is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves delivering high-quality electrical engineering services across industrial and commercial installations, ensuring compliance with UK standards and regulations. You will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems, including Low Voltage panels and switchgear. They will also support the installation and commissioning of both AC and DC EV charging systems, with a focus on fault finding and network support. Experience with UPS maintenance and installations is preferred but not essential.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Deliver planned and reactive electrical engineering services professionally across the UK.
- Install, commission, and modify power generation equipment and LV electrical switchgear, including new or replacement circuitry to supply a range of electrical equipment in accordance with BS7671.
- Support project installation teams with generator, UPS, and DC charging installation works.
- Commission DC charging systems (Kempower, Alpitronic, Autel) in accordance with OEM & NICEIC standards.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance of DC charging systems.
- Attend EV charging locations reactively to accurately fault find, diagnose, and fix electrical issues on-site using rolling van stock, local supply base, and critical spares allocation.
- Gain expert understanding of charger hardware management systems and back-office hardware management systems to enable proactive investigation into chargers and network reliability.
- Ensure the highest quality of workmanship to uphold company standards and comply with building regulations.
- Support UPS services business growth using relevant electrical qualifications.
- Support the core requirements of our NICEIC electrical engineering standards and testing programs.
- Assist the sales team by attending site surveys, project planning, and technical compliance review meetings with project stakeholders to ensure projects are correctly designed, procured, and installed.
- Use workforce field management system JobWatch to record daily job attendances.
- Offer insights into new EV charging and electrical engineering technologies to enhance the company’s competitive advantage.
Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Experience Criteria
- BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations): 18th Edition.
- City & Guilds 2391-52: Level 3: Inspection and Testing
- Previous experience in an EV charging environment.
- Minimum 5-year hands-on electrical experience.
- Valid ECS card or correct qualifications to obtain a Gold Card.
- Able to read and produce high-level schematic drawings.
- Ability to manage own workload and establish priorities.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Willingness to undertake further training for professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
