The purpose of the role:
This role sits within the PDR IT department, data & analytics section. The focus of this role is to outline, build, test and deploy robust and scalable data engineering solutions. This role reports into the Head of Data & Analytics.
What you will be doing:
- Understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions following outlined architecture
- Build, test and deploy data pipelines & other data solutions
- Design and develop analytical models within cloud data warehouse
- Develop and update technical documentation
- Monitor, troubleshoot and support existing solutions to ensure data integrity and availability
- Support team members through knowledge sharing
- Communicate with non-technical audiences to understand business processes and requirements to support design and testing
- It is your responsibility to report any weakness or breach that you identify within the Company’s information systems or services (even if only suspected).
- You have a duty to take care of your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, guests and visitors. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and you also have a duty to report all concerns and co-operate with management to enable it to comply with its health and safety and safeguarding accountabilities.
Some of the skills and experience we are looking for:
- Experience in building datasets (Snowflake) including large complex data
- Understanding and experience of data pipeline development and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework and tools (Matillion, Informatica, SSIS etc.)
- Experience in working with custom data connectors, such as APIs or SaaS providers (Salesforce, etc.)
- Knowledge of data modelling for analytic datasets
- Advanced SQL skills
- Experience of working within cloud computing platforms (Azure preferred)
- Knowledge of data engineering principles
- Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Fabric)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of the team and be innovative
- Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
- Good communicator and able to deliver insight to technical and non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of Jira/Azure DevOps
