Solar Engineer

Responsibilities:

Perform solar PV system electrical design across C&I and Utility-scale projects.
Conduct site surveys, collect technical data, and perform shading analysis and system layout.
Prepare PV system drawings, including layout plans, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and inverter configurations.
Carry out cable sizing, inverter sizing, protection design, and system performance checks.
Use design software such as Helioscope, PVSyst, PVSol, AutoCAD to produce accurate engineering documents.
Produce design proposals, technical solutions, and BOQs to support BD and EPC teams.
Coordinate with internal teams (BD, EPC, Procurement) to ensure design meets project requirements and cost targets.
Support feasibility studies, grid-connection assessments, and technical clarifications during tender or pricing stages.
Ensure all designs comply with UK electrical standards, DNO requirements, and health & safety guidelines.
Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting when required.

Requirements:

Experience in solar PV design (C&I / Rooftop / Ground-mount Utility).
Proficiency in Helioscope / PVSyst / PVSol / AutoCAD and electrical design calculations.
Understanding of UK solar project technical standards.
Strong knowledge of PV system components: panels, inverters, BOS, cabling, protection systems.
Ability to work part-time or project-based (typically a few months per project).
