Role Overview
The Environmental Assessment Manager supports the environmental assessment and approvals function. Supported by Sr Environmental Assessment Specialists, they develop environmental assessment strategies to meet masterplan requirements and coordinate high quality and timely assessments of proposed activities and projects. As a key contact point for proponents, they assist with coordination of team members from various environmental disciplines at a masterplan level. They also ensure NEOM’s environmental and sustainability standards are communicated to developers and contractors.
- REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY Supporting the Senior Manager – Environmental Assessment and Permitting in coordinating an Environmental Assessment and Permitting system
- Providing both technical and management supervision to match forecast project delivery demands.
- Procurement and management of a suite of programs run by Environmental Consultants that support the Assessment & Permitting team
- Coordinate the Environmental Assessment process including day-to-day coordination of project timelines and deliverables, acting as an interface between NEOM’s internal sectors, external proponents, and external
- Environmental Consultants.
- Review and assessment of technical environmental approval reports and documentation submitted by Sector ‘Proponents’ or external Environmental Consultants, in line with NEOM policy and planning objectives.
- Ensuring continued alignment of NEOM’s environmental planning and approval systems with IFC performance standards and world’s best practice.
- Identifying and contributing to planning and post approval initiatives in a dynamic and complex environment with tight timeframes, competing priorities and conflicting stakeholder’s needs, views and opinions.
- Understanding the goals of each division and department and how those goals are aligned to the long-term strategy of the organization and specifically to the environmental services department.
- Participating as a positive and proactive member of NEOM’s Environmental Assessment Team to match forecast project delivery demands
ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The Environmental Assessment Manager responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Stakeholder Management
- Analyze stakeholders’ needs, interests, and influence to prioritize engagement strategies.
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans tailored to different stakeholder groups.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders through regular communication and meetings.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, addressing their concerns and providing updates on relevant activities.
- Manage the dissemination of information, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Work closely with internal teams, including communications, project management, and legal, to ensure stakeholder interests are aligned with organizational objectives.
- Identify and address potential conflicts or issues with stakeholders proactively.
- Mediate disputes or misunderstandings, ensuring that resolutions are in the best interest of both the stakeholders and the organization.
Change Management
- Stay informed about best practices in stakeholder management and apply them to enhance engagement strategies.
- Seek feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve the quality of engagement and communication.
- Promote transparency and accountability in all interactions with stakeholders.
- Identify potential risks associated with the change and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Develop a strategy that outlines the approach, resources and timelines for implementing the change.
Project Management
- Provide regular reports to senior management on stakeholder engagement status, risks, and opportunities.
- Use feedback and data to refine and improve stakeholder management strategies.
- Coordinate stakeholder involvement in projects, ensuring their feedback is integrated into planning and decision-making processes.
- Track and monitor stakeholder engagement activities and their impact on project outcomes.
Leadership
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other communication materials tailored to stakeholder needs.
- Ensure that all stakeholder engagement activities comply with the relevant regulations and ethical standards.

Experience & Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- 7+ years experience across the fields of consulting, research/academia, environmental planning, assessment and/or approvals.
- Strong written and verbal communication & report writing skills
- Strong supervision, people management and mentoring skills
- Proven record of successfully coordinating an environmental program or regulatory process.
- Strong technical environmental skills across marine built and natural environments and/or sustainability.
- High level of emotional intelligence and diplomacy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Relevant Professional Memberships/Accreditation.
